CAMBRIDGE, MA – The announcement by MIT scientists Wednesday that they’ve discovered a new type of nucleic acid, trioxynucleic acid, or TNA, has piqued the interest of scientists worldwide. Referring to a picture of the molecule in the latest issue of National Geographic, Dr. Frederick Eames, the lead scientist on the research team, described the molecule as having “supple nitrogenous bases” and an “alluring phosphate-sugar backbone.” He then trailed off and stared at the centerfold of TNA.
